Let’s be clear – Ending homelessness is a lifestyle choice.By the end of 2021, 227,000 households (not ‘individuals’) across Britain were experiencing core homelessness. Estimates are that this number could be as high as 300,000 in 2023. With the cost-of-living crisis, more and more people are precariously close to becoming homeless. Crisis supports thousands of people each year to find ways out of homelessness with practical support to help people access benefits, healthcare services, and employment opportunities. To achieve this, fundraising is required. This year, Crisis is again partnering with local fashion retailers and returning to the Old Police Station at 27 Saville Row with its pop-up shop from 4th (today!) - 14th December. I’ll be volunteering again and hoping we can exceed the £110k raised last year.In addition to brand-new designer wear, past-season and slightly flawed stock, accessories, gifts, and homeware, there will also be celebrity donations from the likes of Kate Moss and Stormzy. So, if you’re looking to bag a high-fashion bargain or pick up some chic Christmas presents, and help raise money for homelessness at the same time, please drop in for a browse and a few raffle tickets.#crisis #homelessness #endhomelessness https://lnkd.in/geX5t3du

One of the most powerful ways to connect with donors is through compelling storytelling. Consider the "Ice Bucket Challenge" campaign by the ALS Association. By sharing personal stories of individuals affected by the disease, the campaign went viral, raising over $115 million for ALS research. 🌐 nabaga.com#NabagaMediaProductionAndAgency #socialmedia #marketing #socialmediamarketing #digitalmarketing #instagram #branding #business #marketingdigital #seo #design #entrepreneur #graphicdesign #contentmarketing #advertising #onlinemarketing #facebook #marketingstrategy #digital #marketingtips #photography #follow #socialmediamanager #social #media #website

This morning my social media reminded me of a post from 2 years ago. It was a letter I wrote about an ongoing challenge with a large local funder and their response to me pushing one of their influential donors to donate food after events instead of tossing. It was the beginning of the end of my time at the nonprofit I founded and the end of my belief in our local nonprofit sector. Influential donors and funders are constantly asking for critical feedback and innovative ideas so they can be catalysts for deep, meaningful change. What they don't say is giving this feedback will likely be the end of your welcome. Do I regret speaking up? Nope. What I regret is not doing it earlier. Once I started sharing more publicly the very real challenges within our local emergency food and nonprofit space, the hard conversations started taking place. Unfortunately, because the conversations were uncomfortable and showed the real issues holding back progress, these bigger & more established nonprofits shut it down and made sure I was not included. Why? Money & power. As I was told many times, 'this discourse is making us all look bad'. Oh? I think what makes us 'look bad' is thousands of our neighbors going hungry when I can SEE food they could have DAILY. Why were my biggest challenges coming from inside the house? What I learned from my time was to speak up sooner. The lack of alignment went further than I thought and had found a place on the board I built. I was hopeful raising and replacing the funds lost by 1 donor would get me back in the good graces of my board. I was naive. Now, I have clarity. For many years I listened to those who kept acting like I was the problem. My approach - wrong. Talking publicly - wrong. Continuing to use data to show what's happening vs. what's promoted - wrong. What I know now is the PROBLEM is the PROBLEM, not the people trying to solve it. System change is hard. It's even harder without transparency, honesty, and clarity. Now, I get to spend my time and energy with others who are the ones DOING the work, not talking about it. These groups don't have the same access to power & resources but they get things done. It is working with these groups and people who inspired me to keep going when the work was hard. The work is still hard, but now the politics and bureaucracy that kept me scared and silent are gone. Let's get to work. https://lnkd.in/gwpvsXdz?

Today I'll be wrapping up my video series on Gestalt Design principles for nonprofits.Over the last week, I have covered the topics of :🔸 Proximity🔸 Closure🔸 Similarity🔸 Figure and ground🔸 Continuity🔸 SimplicityI've tried to cover these topics with the smallest time, and simplest explanation using Instagram reels and custom animations. You can find them on my my Instagram. While there are generally considered more principles of gestalt design, I believe these to be the most important concepts for a beginner working in a nonprofit to know about.Once you've watched those videos for your nonprofit and still don't understand, that's ok, just send me a message either here or there and I'd be happy to help you out.#nonprofitdesign #nonprofit #nonprofittips #501c #designtips #gestaltdesign
